Work, Olympic Games, politics, euro and other sports
If indeed your current position is coming to an end I hope you will quickly find another.
You have flowers!? Gah…all we have is snow…and more snow.
Yeah! The flower bulbs start to come up here. I hope that in May I can go out again to take pictures of the flower fields again. I am not too worried anymore over finding a job. I am pretty sure that I can find something.
We had our first local baseball umpire’s meeting last Sunday. The high school season begins here on March 15, but we’ll be doing practice games (scrimmages) before that. Daylight saving time starts on March 14 and Spring arrives the next Sunday. I’m ready for Spring, but I know that we’re going to have some cold games before it gets really warm.
I haven’t watched too much of the Olympics—I don’t care much for winter sports, although I did see the US beat Canada in hockey the other night. I watched some curling too—for such a silly sport, it’s fascinating!
I’m substituting in schools pretty regularly now—4 days this week. I imagine that I’ll be working every day before long. The school system is extending the school day 30 minutes per day starting on March 8 and going until April 23 to make up the class time they have missed due to snow. Our county only has to make up two days, but some others around here have to make up a lot more. I don’t know what they’re going to do. I expect that the longer day will cause problems for the spring sports schedule.
Wow… daylight savings time starts early over there. Here in The Netherlands it’ll be the last Sunday of March. I am sure you’re ready for spring, too. I hope that the sun kicks in very fast! I hope that the sports schedule works out well. It would be nice for you to combine umpiring with teaching.
Good luck! ![]()
I never liked hockey! Holly used to go free to games in Indianapolis when we lived in Frankfort, IN. The school got free game tickets and gave them to students who were doing well academically. Take care Love Mom
Hockey is a very physical sport. I can understand why you wouldn’t like it. We get to see games from the NHL here on the same channel that they show NFL. However it’s just bits and pieces of games. Moreover in NHL teams play a lot of games, sometimes even three times a week. It makes it difficult to follow the NHL as a whole or even to follow one specific team. I also have this problem with MLB. NFL is a bit easier to follow.
I hope that you had a good weekend.
