Het kabinet gevallen... en nu?

Het kabinet is gevallen over de kwestie Uruzgan. Ik ben teleurgesteld in het kabinet de afgelopen periode. Er zijn heel veel belangrijke onderwerpen waarvan er een aantal prioriteit hebben. Het belangrijkste onderwerp: de economische crisis. Wat mij bijzonder stoort is dat het kabinet maar liefst en niet minder dan 20 commissies hebben ingesteld om te bezien wat er op lange termijn nodig is om het begrotingstekort weg te werken en Nederland gezond te houden. Die commissie zou binnenkort verslag uitbrengen en ik was toch erg benieuwd naar de resultaten. Nu is het geld voor dat onderzoek waarschijnlijk verloren gegaan, omdat iedere partij nu weer ruimte heeft en krijgt voor nieuwe inzichten. Misschien dat de commissie hun werk kan afmaken en dat partijen op basis van de resultaten van de commissie toch standpunten kunnen innemen.
Ik vind het beschamend dat partij politieke belangen belangrijker waren dan het landsbelang. Had dat nou echt niet anders gekund? In mijn beleving zijn er bij het aantreden van het kabinet afspraken gemaakt. Ik ben van mening dat als men het niet eens kan worden over nieuwe (voortschrijdende) inzichten in ieder geval de gemaakte afspraken nagekomen moeten worden. Gemaakte afspraken zijn per definitie NIET altijd beter, maar ze scheppen wel duidelijkheid voor iedereen; niet in de laatste plaats voor het buitenland (bijvoorbeeld onze NAVO partners).
Hoe nu verder?
Ik maak mij zorgen over het economisch herstel binnen Nederland. Voor economisch herstel is een daadkrachtige regering nodig. Ik verwacht niet dat we in de komende zes tot negen maanden een daadkrachtige regering krijgen. Ik maak mij ook zorgen over de vorming van een daadkrachtig kabinet na de landelijke verkiezingen. Er zullen zeer waarschijnlijk minimaal vier verschillende partijen nodig zijn om een regering te vormen. Wat mij betreft mogen PVDA en CDA geen aanspraak maken op het kabinet. Een sprookje? Waarschijnlijk wel.
Ik heb begrepen dat Balkenende zojuist weer tot lijsttrekker van de CDA is uitgeroepen. Wat een farce. Eén ding moet Nederland bespaart blijven: nog een keer JP Balkenende als premier. Die man kan geen leiding geven aan een kabinet. Dan zou ik liever zien dat Pieter van Geel of Maxime Verhagen dat stokje overneemt. Wanneer CDA dan toch moet regeren dan met Maxime Verhagen als premier en een paars kabinet dat al eerder goed is gewerkt. Ik weet alleen niet of Rutte ervaren genoeg is om als vice-premier te dienen. Voorlopig heeft deze combinatie mijn voorkeur. Hopenlijk dat deze combinatie voldoende zetels haalt en dat het CDA zich nog een keer bezint op het lijsttrekkersschap van Balkenende.
Laatste vraag: hoe groot wordt de PVV? Het enige voordeel: Wilders heeft ervaring in de politiek en gaat niet over één nacht ijs. Was hij niet zo radicaal, dan had hij misschien meer sympathie van mij gekregen.
Ik vind politiek belangrijk. De komende maanden zullen er meer van deze entries volgen.

Last night the Dutch Government fell. The Dutch Government couldn’t agree on the “Uruzgan” matter. We have troops deployed in a part of Afghanistan called Uruzgan and that mission will end some time soon. Some parties would like to meet a NATO request to extend the mission, but one political party decided to stick to the Government agreement and didn’t want to extend any further. Now we have to have new elections for the national Government.
The timing is very bad, because of the economic situation. The Government was in the middle of trying to cope with the financial crisis and to try to limit the budget deficits as much as possible. All that came to a stand still and will be delayed, where we really shouldn’t delay any further. I am also mad about all the money spent on committees that were exploring solutions. Hopefully the committees will report anyways and that this will be input for the different parties for their political programm.
I find it shameful that political interest was more important that the interest of the Netherlands as a whole. I wonder if that couldn’t be solved in different ways. When the Government started out in 2007 they made agreements. I am of the opinion that if people involved cannot agree over new insights and possible new solutions, at least they should execute the part that they initially agreed upon. Earlier agreements are not always better, but they create clarity for everybody, not the least foreign parties involved (like NATO).
So now what?
I am worried over the economic situation within The Netherlands. To have economic recovery a country need a powerful Government. I expect that we will not have a powerful Government in the next six to nine months. I am also worried over having a powerful Government after the national elections. There’s a lot of “roosters” out there that crow more than they act. I would die for having a powerful man like Obama leading our country. As far as I am concerned the parties that were in the Government should not return. Unfortunately both parties are big enough and probably will be big enough after the elections to rule.
I understood that the late President of our country has been elected by his political movement to take the lead in their campaign. How sick! He stranded four Governments in the past eight years or so. Over Twitter I asked the secretary of Foreign Affairs to take over leadership from the late President and fight for leadership. At least I will have some hope. If possible I hope a coalition of Democrats and Liberals will be possible. That coalition worked well in the 90s.
My last concern is how big the Freedom Party will become. This party is an extreme party and a bit dangerous. This party is very harsh towards muslims and other foreigners. Because of our current economic situation this party is gaining in popularity. For me that is a major concern.
I am very interested in politics. This will mean that I will definitely write more entries about politics.
